The Question

Canon's scangear toolbox CS works with this all in one, and it is
better than the software that comes with the printer. There in a spare
customisable button in SG toolbox that allows the output from the
scanner to go to a link.

Does any one know how to specify a windows printer as a link? There is
no option for a printer driver in this tab.

The program wants a path to the link. I have tried entering PPP2: but
that is rejected as an invalid path.

The Background

There is a Copy tab which allows printing to a printer driver,
unfortunately it does not allow me to set the dpi. The choices are
draft, good, high, super high.

It is important to me to have a solution to this problem. If I am not
going to get a reply from this group is there a more appropriate group
that I should have posted my question into?

First of all, I'm familiar with neither the device nor the software so
take the following with a boulder of salt...

If you have a network and the printer is on it, try entering the
network address (the one starting with two backward slashes).

Also, and this is a long shot, have you tried the old DOS "PRN:"? That
should automatically redirect to LPT1: which is for parallel port
devices so, odds are, that probably won't work.

It is important to me to have a solution to this problem. If I am not

I guess, this is more of a system question rather than scanning which
is probably why there were no responses.

Maybe some Windows group? Or "comp.periphs.printers"?

If the printer is a network printer, you first have to capture the printer
port and send to a universal identifier.

In the printer driver there is an option to capture the printer port and
send to another address. One option is a network address.

Unfortunately the program requires me to be able to browse to the
application. It does not allow me to enter an ip address. I have been
looking at the idea of setting up a MS loop back adapter but I now
realise that although it has an address it does not have a link address
that I can browse to in setting up that link. I can not see any
printers when I browse the computer with the program's browse button.
