Pivottables adding datafields not to be "counted"

Hi all!

I use a pivottable to make a summary bestseller list Two columns
[procuctname and sold]. No problem. The product that sells most at the
top, but I would like to add fields to the right of productname like
productnumber, productdetails etc. When I do I get all kinds of strange
sums. I just want to add the fields for information not sums.

Any advanced pivottable flyers out there?

Drag the Field from the Field Table to the row area and not into the data
area. When you drag the Field over to the row area you should see a 'fuzzy'
I-beam (capital letter "i") juuuust to the left of your cursor -- this
indicates that you are dropping your Field into the row area. If the data
area is *surrounded* (which, I believe, is your "sold" column) then you know
you need to move your cursor just a little more to the left.
 
Double-click on the field button for ProductNumber
For Subtotals, choose None, then click OK

Do the same for the other secondary headings.

Thanks Toby and Debra,

It works kind of, but when I do like you say Toby I have to double click
on every post in order to get the additional data to show. I have tried
updating the whole Pivottable but the aditional fields are emty until I
double-click on them. Any ideas why? I am ever so gratefull for your
kind help! :-) Mats

Hmmm, strange...I'll have to defer this to Debra, she knows pivots far better
than I.
 
What fields are in each area of the pivot table (row, column, data)?
What strange sums are you seeing?
How do you want the pivot table to look?
