Pivot Table

Hi,
When I pull data from an external data source, the values which appear in
the cells under the row fields are truncated, eg an account number which
should be 0000001 appears as 00000. This then causes the data to come out
all wrong. I also have the same problem with a pure text field. Anyone any
ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Andy

This isn't going to help much, but I have never known pivot tables to do
this. The normal thing would be for Excel to see the account 'numbers' as
true ones and try to truncate them the other way, eg: 000001 becomes 1.

Without totally exonerating excel from blame, have you got up to date odbc
drivers for the external application and, pardon me for suggesting, but you
have widened the columns to check it's not just hidden?

Just have not come across this in my extensive use of pivot tables

Thanks for the reply. The number appears the same no matter how wide the
column. The drivers are the latest available to me... The funny thing is
that when the table columns and data appear in the microsoft query window
before returning the data to excel, the data in the columns is perfect. It's
only when it is returned that it goes pear shaped! I've tried playing with
the formatting of the cells etc, turning off auto-formatting, but none of it
seems to make any difference.
