Pivot Table Max size

I am trying to create a pivot table via pivot wizard using
form and once I get to the Layout step and it loads the
data from the table I get the error message: 'Low on
Memory'. I am using 424,000 rows of data from a table.

My question is: What is the maximum size (rows) an Access
Pivot table will allow?

In Excel, the limitation is memory. Educated guess says that is *probably*
true in Access as well. You don't say what version of Office you are using
but XP is *significantly* better at handling RAM than 2000 and 2003 has
fewer memory constaints than XP. Operating systems can have an impact as
well.

www.decisionmodels.com has some stuff about memory on it's Excel pages. How
much of that is applicable to using Pivot tables in Access? Don't know, but
my guess is quite a bit.

I had a situation in Excel where Office XP generated a pivot table just fine
but Office 2000 couldn't handle it. I modified my datasource (after
rearranging my table a bit) so it was based only on the 8 fields i really
needed instead of the full 16 contained in the table. It now works fine in
both 2000 and XP as long as the machine has sufficient memory: Win 98
laptops with 128 MB running Office 2000 still choke (which is acceptable),
Win XP machines with 512MB running Office 2000 do fine. Jury is out on
machines that fall in between.
