Pioneer dvr108 usb drive problem

Unit is only being found as a CD player. Can use no dvd functions.
Firmware won't install from Pioneer - says device not found. Windows will
not install it properly. Any help?

Yes- have tried both Roxio and Nero. Drive is seen but only as cd drive.
Getting to be a real crazy maker!!
 
Could be that the DVD laser has failed. The drive has two, one for the CD
side and one for the DVD side.
