Pioneer dvdrom problems

Hello all, I've scoured many websites looking for a fix
for this but I don't know what could be the problem. A
few months ago my pioneer dvdrom (106) just stopped
working for me. it detects in bios and in windows, it
will take and eject discs, but the unit will not read any
discs that have been inserted. I've tried different
types of media both dvd, cdr and original cd's to no
avail. I have tried reinstalling the drive as well as a
couple of fresh re-installs of win xp.

If necessary my specs are P4 2.0, 512mb geforce 2mx with
pioneer 106 dvdrom and sony 10/24/40 cdrw. Right now the
sony is the master as it always was, and i haven't
changed any jumper settings or anything like that.

Please help if you can and thanks in advance!

There are a couple of possible's. Dirty optics, or optical system died. I
would first try cleaning it, then if it still does not work, pull it and try
it on a different system. If it still doesn't work , I would trash it and
buy a new one, preferably a DVD+RW.
