Pink Line on my monitor

Hi!

I am a bit annoyed that recently my laptop's LCD (HP Pavilion) developed a
pink line
In the first 2 days, it does not stay permanently as it will go away for a
few second (approx. 2-3 second) after I unplug my laptop from any power
source (batteries, adaptor) for several mins, but after 3 days, the pink line
stays permanently.
What Happened??
How much does it cost to replace laptop's LCD?

Thanks

Are you sure you want this fixed? Plenty of people would love to have a
stylish pink line on their laptop display.

Since you are not on the avant guarde of fashion you should hope your
laptop is still under warranty. Otherwise it's going to be a while
before you can afford those trendy new shoes.

Hmmm, you did purchase that extended guarantee, didn't you? If not, it well
might be time to think about a nice new shiny notebook.

Sounds like it took a sharp enough impact recently to pull the monitor cable
slightly loose somewhere along the line, or if you're really unlucky, rip
it a little.

Probably not a problem with the LCD. See above. If you're adventurous and
are comfortable opening laptops (not many people are, don't do it unless
you're 100% sure you can put it back together or won't be pissed at the
loss if you can't) you might consider disassembling the laptop to get at
the ribbon cable that connects the video controller to the LCD. Make sure
connections at both (or all three, depending on the design) ends of the
monitor wiring harness are firmly connected and free of tears (these things
can be brutally easy to tear, so be super-careful).
