Pinging noise is driving me crazy!

Just hooked up on a cable connection to the internet. Now my computer makes a "pinging" sound about every 2 seconds! None of my firewall or virus detection programs use this noise to alert me. I turned off the "Exclamation" sound under sounds. No luck. Disabled XP's Firewall thinking that was the source. Strike 2

So far the only thing that works is muting my soundcard but you can't listen to music that way

Anybody have any ideas?

Running Messenger?

Stuck key?

No on both counts

Didn't have this problem on DSL. Just happened today when I hooked up the cable internet connection via the ethernet connection.
