For ages now I have successfully logged on to my bank's home page from
Favourites. Today when I tried it opened with the correct address showing but
the site was a shirt and tie manufacturer. Also, sometimes a get a ping with
the message 61 by Liquid Vision New Media Pty Ltd.
Can anyone tell me what a ping is, and give me a solution to my problem.
I am running Norton Internet Security 2006 and Microsoft AntiSpyware.

Hi akl :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, which really is a
must when asking for help in the newsgroups, nor the type of connection you
are using (i.e. Dial-up, DSL, Cable) which is always helpful as well.

The PING 61 is part of the phone and fax number the Liquid Vision New Media
Pty Ltd for the ASD Search.

It would appear that you have a hijacker or some form of adware that is
redirecting you to this. Be aware, your Anti-Virus won't detect all types
of warez, Trojans, malware, worms, etc., and neither can other adware or
spyware related programs such as AdAware and SpyBot. They don't have the
proper definitions. They must also be run in Safe Mode with Hidden Files
enabled in order to fully scan all files. Even if you have run such
programs and nothing shows up, it does not mean your system is clean. It
takes a series of programs to fully clean your machine. Some very aggressive
and damaging variants of malware can replicate themselves repeatedly, or
mutate, if not removed properly. Work through the steps below to fully clean
your machine.

Download and install HiJackThis. This is one of the most important steps.
Follow all instructions carefully. This program should be run in Normal
mode.

It appears that the problem was anti-spyware and Microsoft's AntiSpyware
removed it. I have not gone any further with installing HighJackThis as I
don't feel confident enough at this stage.
