Could you tell me, please, the name of the font used for the word
"Pricelessware" in the logo on the webpage and, if possible, where I
might obtain it?

Thanks

Hi Nicolaas,

An email is on its way - the font is attached.

With apologies - I'd rather not. You may have noticed that I did not
mention the name of the font in my previous post.

IMO that font is one of ACF's safeguards against having the
Pricelessware "look" copied and I would rather not have either the name
or the font itself in general circulation. (Nicolaas is an ACF volunteer
burner and has a need for the font.)

You have your own "Susan Burgher font" ? wow! where can I download ?

Hmm, I'm glad I read through the whole thread before blurting out the name of
the font and its history.

For those who're curious, I suppose it's safe enough to say that it's one of
the oldest, legitimately available free outline fonts and was rather loosely
based on a bitmap font. Probably quite easy to find if one looks, though
arguably not worth the effort (fonts are so readily available these days,
bundled w/ software and operating systems that it's hard to imagine a
reasonable user exhausting what's readily available by default) especially
since there are much nicer ones w/ far wider repertoires (though few script /
decorative fonts are free, rather a shame Microsoft cheaped out on not
including the Ariadne swash capitals in their OpenType version of Palatino
bundled w/ Windows 2000 and later).

Anyway, take a glance at
http://members.aol.com/willadams/portfolio/typography/peace_on_earth.pdf

or

http://members.aol.com/willadams/portfolio/typography/i_am_your_flag.pdf

To stay on topic, guess which one was done w/ free software and a font bundled
w/ an operating system ;)

William

PS - to verify the free software angle, glance at
http://members.aol.com/willadams/portfolio/typography/peaceonearth.pdf and
check the properties

Who's "Susan Burgher"?

Anyway, I was going to recommend that you create your own personal TT
font at Fontifier, but I see that it's no longer free to do so. Bummer.

I'm also truly "biting my tongue" out of respect for Susan. I don't
agree that a *free* font should be kept secret.

While I pretty much agree, I really think that the world would be a better
place for this design to not be used any longer, or even if it's used less ---
there're much nicer designs available.

The world would be a better place if that font were never used?
Only an idiot would say something so ridiculous.

You mean there is no "R" in Bugher ? sorry. for some reason I was thinking
of Booger from Revenge of the Nerds when I typed that. My apologizes to
Booger and the Real Bugher. :o)

Obviously, there's an 'r' in Bugher. It must bug her when people
misspell her name.

You're apologizing to a fictional character? That's pathetic. :)
