When i type start, run & cmd & ping i can ping example www.yahoo.com ok if i
ping a ip like 58.67.xx i get request times out 4 times on any non name
addresses.
Someone told vcould be adaware or pests. I scanned using stinger
pestpatrol,n orton & spysweeper & i am clean. I disabled firewalls (Norton
Internet Security 2004 & XP Internal Firewall) & nothing. I see no error in
event viewer either.

Please Help!

If you can ping a domain name, everything is working ok in tcp/ip, including
your connection to your gateway and to your dns server.
Not sure if you were just typing too quickly, but 58.67.xx is not a valid ip
address. It has to have four octects, not three.
Interesting, though. I tried pinging 58.67.12 and noticed that ping
converted the request to 58.67.0.12 and timed out.
Request timed out means that there was no reply from the server you pinged.
Could mean the computer is off, there is no computer assigned to that ip
address or the site has disabled replies to a ping.

This would seem to indicate a problem with your dns server or settings.
Check with your ISP or post back with more information about how you
connect to the Internet - method and ISP.

First question: are you trying to ping a valid IP address? Your example in
your original post was NOT a valid address. IP addresses have four groups of
digits -- your example had three.

Second: Get your gateway or DNS server address from winipcfg or the network
connection in XP. Try pinging that address. If it works, don't sweat it.
Nothing's wrong.
