Hello Karen:
You first mentioned kedit. It showed lots of promise, there were a
couple of features I missed.

I contacted the author, and he has been very helpful, and even provided
the no-install for me when it normally comes as an install. I really
like it.

There is a new version, you may be interested.

What's new in Kankowski Edit 2.1
Legend: ! is a fixed bug, + is a new feature and * is a change.
! Fixed: changing configuration didn't affect other application
instances.
! Fixed: Help topics menu item didn't work
+ Stay on Top button
+ Select All menu item [Mike asked for this]
+ Switch for "Esc key closes main window" [thanks to Carlos]
* "Save files when switching to another program" now saves all files
without prompt [Mike asked for this].
* Executable size reduced from 84 Kb to 67 Kb. In the next version
I'm planning to shrink down the installer.

An amendment to this earlier post. I use CTRL/End to go to the end of a
file. When I did that in a 440 KB file, the end text had been changed to
add many lines and spaces. After I exited, the file showed 0 size. I
went back to Edxor, opened it, the file was normal.

If you try the new version, please post your results.

Well, according to GetRight it didn't...

I tried downloading it too. After 15 minutes of trying different ways to
get it I gave up. I would probably need to use another browser or
something.

Why can't people use simple and clean html and files you can rightclick on
and download without going through several redirection mechanisms, dynamic
html, php code, and false file names which lead to new web pages..?

They force us all to use the latest generation of browsers and to turn off
all security systems to be able to download files.

That reminds me, I didn't try bypassing all filters in Proxomitron, maybe
that is what I had to do last time I downloaded the Kankowski editor.

Well, a puzzle. I just tried it on the same file, CTRL/End, no problem.
Who said computers were consistant?

Mike Sa

Well not really
A) it says version 1.5 and we got (thanks
to your help :-) a version 2.1 ..
B) last time I used kedit (in 1983) it's been
inside IBM and was meant for Dos as well
as for mainframe computers :-))
So maybe there are several "kedits" :-))

But have a look at:
http://www.kedit.com/

Already looked ;o) (I think I'll keep schtum on what I thought of the site
;o) )

Well Kankowski should know :->
Edit 2.1

Did I understand what you're saying? The kedit '85 is same author? That this
program was birthed originally ~twenty years ago?
