Ping of FQDN resolves incorrect IP

I have an odd problem on (1) XP client. If I try to ping
certain FQDN web host (like www.google.com) the IP I get
back is wrong. Thus, when I try to connect, via IE, to
www.google.com. I get sent a website that say
CPanel "There is no website configured at this address."
Yet from another XP client running identical patches and
SP1 it resolves the IP just fine. It does this to only
some website
Domain: WIN2K

Things I've done:

1.) Checked all TCP/IP settings. Using DHCP and Dynamic
DNS auto-add under the DNS tab (same settings as other
client).
2.) Removed NIC software (Intel NIC) and network connect
to clear anything TCP/IP related to it. Re-installed
3.) Re-installed SP1 and Windows Update patches.
4.) rebooted it(hard and soft) about 1 million times.
5.) Hard Reset my router
6.) Complete de-installed IE 6.0(even removed old
folders) and re-installed.

And it still does the same thing as listed above.

Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

thanks

Install and run a spyware removal program like SpyBot Search and Destroy or
Adaware.

And ensure your virus definitions are current in your antivirus software.

Yep.. that was the trick. I installed SpyBot and it found
hundreds(143) of spyware product hacks running against
the client. I did an update to get the latest SpyBot DEF
files and ran the checker and it fixed them all. Several
were redirection items. Including Google.com and others.
Runs like a champ now. Thank you VERY much for you help.
I've been beating my head against this one over the
course of several days.
Damn Spyware..
BTW - I always have current Virus DEF's on all systems.
Automatically D/L daily from NAV update.

Now you know that anti-virus products don't protect you from common
spyware. I use SpywareGuard in the background with SpywareBlaster to
disable common spyware controls.
