I have a windows 2000 server(SP4)that is flooding my
network with ping traffic. I can not find the source on
the server. Where to look? what can be done?

The first thing to suspect is a virus, namely Welchia / Nachi /
MSBlast.D You can run a virus scan from
http://housecall.antivirus.com although to prevent this, you would
need to install the MS03-039 patch from Microsoft and use a removal
tool such as the Stinger tool for Welchia from www.mcafee.com and you
might also want to install antivirus with the latest updates on the
server. www.grisoft.com is free antivirus, at least for
non-commercial users.

If no virus is found, a software firewall such as www.kerio.com,
www.sygate.com or www.zonealarm.com might help identify which program
is generating the ICMP traffic. Also, you could try the other things
listed here:
