I have tried and succeeded in installing XP 2 Pro several times. I have also had
the WD disk off the the suppliers and they deemed the disk not to be faulty.
I finally on Sunday evening decided to format and then install on my usual 12 GB
partition. I have a beautiful photo of the screen message that tells me the disk
is faulty. An old 80GB disk was used as a temp for installation and that is now
working well with no ping errors - you just cannot trust anyone.
