AntiVir reports the pimmy343-english-setup.exe contains a backdoor program.
BDS/DSSdoor.B.2 Backdoor server.

I am not savvy on this . Could it be an error?
Humbly yours.

I'm not savvy either but an error seems likely to me. . .

I just Googled for "BDS/DSSdoor.B.2" and see a couple of reports of
false positives.

I scanned all the files on the CD (with AVG). Someone else scanned them
with F-PROT ANTIVIRUS. Neither program flagged BDS/DSSdoor.B.2.

I scanned the iso after download here with (OT) Computer Associates e-
Trust and it found nothing.

Thanks I tried avg and f.prot and as you say they come up with nothing .
It must be a ghost in the AntiVir.
Thanks to all who made the cd possible.
Cheers.

ClamWin shows a MyDoom in the .iso. Scanned it with everything else
under the sun, and it came up clean. False positives are not unheard of.
In fact, with a disk full of .exe's, it shouldn't be surprising
(although it did give me a start at first).

Hello, this is Angelo from Geminisoft.

As other people said this could be a false positive reported by anti-virus
programs. Pimmy english setup and zip file do not contain any virus or
backdoor program or spyware. I am also sure that Priceless.org have checked
all files before writing CDs so we could be sure of their integrity.

This message is to assure people who already are using Pimmy and who are
going to donwload it from our web site.

I would like to thank Griselda for the warning: viruses are all around us
:-)

Bye,

Bye,

I've been using the newest Pimmy (3.5 beta 7)since you posted the last
update. Clean download from your site and it works well. I was a little
confused to see a built in media player being developed lol but figured
it's something you want. Pimmy is a nice, little fast app. That is what
appeals to me. :)

Thank you for a great freeware!

Yes, it's only a little gadget :-)

Pimmy Player uses Windows DirectX to play music ad video and so the
implementation grows Pimmy only of 4KB.

Thansk for appreciating pimmy... and sorry for my poor english.

I thought that the PL2004 CD might become the most scanned CD in the
world - that all the AV programs would be used - given the participants
in this newsgroup.

You've already gone beyond the world. . . maybe it will become the most
scanned CD in the Galaxy. . . the universe. . . ;)

FWIW, I just downloaded the latest version on ClamWin (v0.33 -- see
earlier post from Steve Basford) and scanned the file again. Still
getting the same report:

Scan started: Fri Apr 30 20:30:17 2004

C:/Downloads/pw2004.iso: Worm.Mydoom.Gen-1 FOUND

-- summary --
Known viruses: 21331
Scanned directories: 0
Scanned files: 1
Infected files: 1
Data scanned: 434.25 MB
I/O buffer size: 131072 bytes
Time: 114.898 sec (1 m 54 s)

There's no problem with the file, of course. I just found it
interesting. I believe that this is the first confirmed false positive
virus report I've ever seen up close and personal. Not necessarily the
first I've ever seen; just the first I'm certain *is* a false positive.
