PID'S How do You deploy individual PID's for each Licensed Machine?

Hello Group, Hopefully someone that has done this before.

I have been working on my target machine since March
developing and testing MY application software, and now
have finally gotten a PID from my Authorized Replicator
supplier. I spent the weekend Installing the Purchased
Version of XP Embedded Suite of programs.
I brought up TD and under Run Time Image Licensing.
Installed the PID provided by my supplier and built the
target Image.

I thought when I went to the Seminars from Microsoft on
Embedded XP That I could create a Target image and then
AFTER the FBA had finished on the target machine, then
install the PID. IS THIS NOT SO?

Or MUST I generate a new custom target image for each
machine, go through the hassle of FBA, modify my
setting on the target for my application. Customize the
screen settings then save this result to My Disk for
deployment?

How can I avoid going through FBA for each machine? If
I get everything the way I want it , then save this
Image and then INSTALL the PID for each machine. How do I
do this?

Please Help, any response on how to do this efficiently
would be greatly appreciated.

Your distributor should be able to help explain the process to you.

In short though, you don't need a seperate PID for each copy. You use ONE
PID in Target Designer which will end up in every copy of the image. The
individual licenses you buy are stickers for you to attach to your device
with a # that you need to keep for records.

WRT FBA on each machine... The majority of FBA will run only on one
machine. You'll then seal the machine (utility is in the System Cloning
Tool) and shut it down. Once each copy of that image boots, it will run the
very last portion of FBA to generate a new SID for the copy.

Mike,

Your distributor should have explained all of this to you
when you purchased the PID's & the retail version of the
tools & DB. I apologize on their behalf for the hassle. I
have heard of this issue twice this month, and will look
into why this is happening. But to be clear, the public
newsgroups are not the appropriate place to resolve this
issue. Take this up with your distributor that sold you
the licenses.

As for entering a PID after FBA completes, the answer is
No. You must enter the PID in Target Designer before you
build the image and you must be using the Retail addition
of the XPe tools & database. This is what is supported by
MS. The eval addition was only meant for evaluation
purposes.

If you are positive that you have heard that you can
enter a PID after FBA has completed at a MS seminar, then
you should contact the speaker that told you this and
hold them accountable.
