Barry

i want to add pictures to my web site. but the pictures are small i want to
be able when you click on the picture it becomes big in a seperaste window.

You need big pictures to start with. Small images cannot be enlarged
unless you accept really poor quality (poor to the extent the image cannot
be recognised).
Place a big picture in the page, then click on the picture and type Ctrl+T
(press Ctrl key, then tap T) and a thumbnail (small picture) will be
produced linked to the big picture.
You can modify the link using the hyperlink icon in the toolbar to add a
target frame - choose _blank (new page) to open in a new window.

Is it better to do pictures this way, than inserting a photo gallery?

I have a photo gallery on my web site now, but when I went to preview the
page, it gave me an error message "Error in running scripts...do you want to
conintue running scripts?" And now I can't publish.

Would it be better to forgo the photo gallery and just ass the pics like you
said before, by putting thumbnails in and letting the user click to enlarge?

Thanks! Susan

Are you using Preview in browser from a disc based web? If so, the error
message should go away when you publish to a server. Preview in the Preview
pane will often generate an error.
The slide show gallery in FrontPage will only work in Internet Explorer -
it will fail in FireFox and other browsers.

Having said the above, if you have a lot of pictures to show then a photo
gallery is often the best solution, but those offerred by FrontPage are not
among the best. Take a look at jAlbum (http://jalbum.net) which is
recommended by many in this newsgroup, but there are many others.
