Pictures won't work in Movie Maker anymore.

All of a sudden, pictures are not working in my Movie Maker anymore. I was
trying to make a video and it keep freezing. It was getting so frustrating
that I was really ready to throw something.

I began messing around to see if I could figure out the problem. I noticed,
strangely enough, that when I removed any pictures from the video, it played
fine. However, if I have pictures in the video, it will cause all sorts of
weird errors. Sometimes the video will freeze on a screen, but the audio will
continue. Sometimes it will freeze Movie Maker completely.

I've tried many different pics, so I know it isn't a problem with one
specific picture. If I even try JUST putting a bunch of pictures in the
movie, I just get a black screen. Does anybody know how I could possibly fix
this problem? I make videos a lot and love to have pics randomly throughout
the video to illustrate what the video is saying. For example, I may make a
video talking about a movie, so I'll have pics of the characters from the
movie that I show as the video mentions their name.

Any suggestions?

What is the format of the pictures? Have
you tried using pictures in the .bmp format.

I had read somewhere that .JPG images may sometimes cause problems, so I
tried using .BMP images instead and it still does the same thing. The
pictures just will not show up. I get a black screen. Or, sometimes, if I
have a picture somewhere within a video, it will cause the video to freeze at
one point, but the audio will continue.

Are you running XP or Vista?

Might be worth a try to reduce your
Graphics Hardware Acceleration...
if that helps...you need to update your
video driver.

It may be worth a try to uncheck all the
filters in Movie Maker...Tools / Options /
Compatibility tab.

It's working for now. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

In another message board I was in, somebody suggested the same thing you
did, going into the compatibility tab to uncheck filters. When I got there,
it only gave me one filter and it wasn't even checked. Out of curiosity, I
clicked "Restore All Defaults." After doing that, somehow the pics worked
again, even if I tried to use .jpg images. Weird!

So, it is working for now. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it continues to
do so. Thanks for your help!
