I'm creating a slide in powerpoint that involves pictures appearing as I
advance through a list. However, all of the pictures also appear as soon as
the slide displays, one on top of another. How do I stop this?

Hi John,

Thanks for replying to my post

The link you included shows exactly what I want to achieve, and my current
attempt does achieve it, except that all 4 of my pictures appear as soon as
the slide appears, stacked on top of each other. As I work through the slide,
each picture disappears, and then reappears, following the motion path that I
have set for it. They also disappear correctly as the next image and bullet
point enter the screen. The custom animation listing shows all of the items
in the correct order, but I just cannot get rid of the pictures at the start
of the slide. Is it possible to attach an example to postings? If so i'd be
happy to do so.

Seem to have solved the problem myself. I was using motion paths to introduce
my pictures, but have now reverted to using a straightforward 'entrance' and
the pictures only appear when I want them to.

Thanks for your post though John

If you like the motion paths idea, you can probably do one of a few
things. You could start the pictures off the slide and then apply a
motion path. Or you could have an entrance (just an appear) effect just
before the motion path.
