I have received a number of pictures that I want to convert to the same
size 56x60.Eventhough I do Rt-click resize pictures/advanced/custom it
gives me the custom picture(s) of the sizes 41x60 and 52x60 or the like.
How could I make all the pictures of the size 56x60 please? Please guide?

To change the aspect ratio with no distortion
you will have to crop the images to the new size.

Maybe the following link will get you started:

The freeware IrfanView may be useful to you:

Download IrfanView 3.97
http://www.tucows.com/preview/194967.html
(get the plug-ins too)(check the help files
for Batch Conversion)

Thank you very much for the guidance. I saw a site in which I could see
two photographs of the similar size (56X60) and yet the quality without
any distortion. I thought if it was possible without cropping to make
custom made sizes?--probably not without changing aspect ratio.

Correct...unless the aspect ratios of
the original and your resized copy are
mathmatically the same.
