I have noticed that after I import pics into WMM they are not sharp. When
viewed in full screen mode in any other program they are very crsip. What
could be causing this detrioration in WMM. Is there a tool to sharpen the
imports? Thanks for any help.

You will just have to burn to CD/DVD and view on a TV to see if it's
acceptable. First there is the resolution difference NTSC DV is 720x480
interlaced, other TV formats may include 640x480 depending on your project
type. So after it changes the resolution and prepares it for your project,
if it's going to end up being viewed on a TV, I wouldn't go by what you see
on your monitor since there will be gamma, color range, and contrast
differences. Which is why I use my Firewire and DV camcorder as a preview
setup to my TV. Then I can see how video and images will look on a normal
TV. Because I used to correct for the best look on my computer monitor, and
then when watching it on TV, the colors were too vivid and often too bright.

If this is a new process for you. I would first do everything from start to
finish and view it on the TV if that is the main final destination. Then if
it looks unacceptable, I would try using Photoshop, MS picture editor, or
other image tool to do the reize to 640x480 or 720x480 before adding them to
your project. Sometimes the WWM sampling is not what you desire.

Jim, don't go by what the 'preview' window shows you. It's there to show
the results of your project not the resolution....saving on computing power I
guess.
If you save your movie in the better resolutions such as the 640x or the 720x
you will have better resolution than 'regular' tv, and just below the
beginnings of
high definition tv. Its best to save your movie, and then watch it on your
monitor
in Media Player so that you can see this. When you play your dvd on the tv
it will
depend on the extent of the resolution. Its interesting now to go into a
Best Buy and check out how the 'resolutions' of the tv's are now
posted....that is a new and very good thing! ha ha ha

Your close dickmr. The reason the stills and videos are not as high quality
is because to make them so WMM would have to actually render the project
everytime you wanted to preview and that would be too time consuming. This
way you can preview on the fly and don't have to waste the time needed to
render until you are finished.
But as far as Jim's concerns you are 100% correct. Jim, don't worry about
the sharpness unless you still have a problem with the completed video when
viewing in Movie Player.
