I have a copy of a powerpoint presentation given to me at college. it only
features one slide but there are 9 pictures on it. does anyone know of a way
to retrieve the pictures individually and save them as jpg files seperately?

Which version of PowerPoint are you using?

I can't remember if you can right click the picture, and use the Save as Picture option. You can however publish your presentation as web site, and PowerPoint will put all your pictures into a folder calling them something like image001.jpg, image002.jpg.... Or you can create new blank slides, move each of the images to a new slide, and then use the save as option and select .JPG
