pictures in database

i made an order and invoicing program that also have a style database. Each
style has an imbedded picture. These pictures are actually making the database
bigger. Is there a better way of having the picture pop up/ or be retrieve
outside
the database ? This way the database does not become so big. Will appreciate
any suggestion. Thanks
