I've read a lot about pictures NOT showing in body of the message (red X
etc), My sent messages with picture attachments DO show the pics LARGE in the
body of the message. I don't want them to, I just want the jpg. reference to
show in the attachment pane, how do I turn this off please?

Thanks. I do select them as Attachments, have never used Insert Picture, perhaps there's a default somewhere that needs turning off, I can't find it though.

I have the same problem and have tried to attach file, but the picture still
comes up in the body of message.

Are the pictures show when you are sending the message or are you viewing
the message in Sent Items?

Both. Have tested sending and receiving to and from Windows Mail to another
email address (Hotmail)

Where are the pictures in the message body?
Are the pictures below the text?
Picture attachments are displayed below the message text.

Yes, below the text, but very big, whole width of text panel. Also shown as
..jpg references in the Attachment: panel below From: Date: To: Subject:
I'd just like to keep them as attachment references, not as big pics.
Thanks for your interest.
Yesterday meant to say tried this between Hotmail and Virgin.net email
accounts.

The pictures are appearing 'below' the message body.
OE and Winmail will display picture attachments below the message body of
text and HTML messages.
Compose a message.
Attach some photos.
Save to Drafts.
View the message in the Preview Pane, the photo attachments will show.
Open the message to edit, the photo attachments will not show.

I do not know of a way to stop the display of picture attachments below the
message body.

The pictures will display as a more normal size if you reduce the size or
resolution of the pictures before attaching.
