Pictures don't show

Pictures don't show in Word, just a black outline of where
the picture should be, the text shows up fine. When I
forward the message to someone else, they are able to see
the pictures.
 
What version of Word?

Open WORD
Select the TOOLS menu
Select OPTIONS...
Select the VIEW tab
Turn off the check mark next to "Picture placeholders"
in the Show area.
