Whenever I take pictures with my camera,(hp735) and download them onto my
computer, they show up as just black squares. I spend alot of time editing
them. I brought my camera in and there was nothing wrong with it, I got a new
monitor and still the same. I was told it could be my software. So I bought
brand new software(Microsoft Image Pro 10) and still black pictures. What is
wrong?

I think a more detailed description would
be useful in seeking a solution. You mention
that your images are black squares after
downloading from your HP camera but then
you go on to say you spend a lot of time
editing them.

Maybe you will explain how you edit a black
square?

Can you view the images on the LCD screen
of your camera?

How...exactly do you download the images
to your hard drive?

For editing my pictures, I open my image software and open my file with the
pictures.I open up a picture. I then go and edit the Exposure and Lighting.
This brightens the picture and I am able to see what it is.
I am able to see the picture in my LCD screen after I take the picture.
I connect my camera to my computer and it automatically transfers the images
to my program.
Hope this is what you needed to know. Thanks for the help

Ok...maybe now I understand....you are
simply stating that your images are too
dark.

Good images require good lighting...if
you are taking pictures indoors...try turning
on more lights and try it without the flash.

I find that I get the best pictures outdoors
on a sunny day...it's hard to beat natural
light.

There are some sample shots taken with
a HP735 at the following link and they look
pretty good:

Also you might ask some questions in the
rec.photo.digital newsgroup...there are
some experts and pros that may be able
to help you. If you cannot access
rec.photo.digital on your server, you can
access it on GoogleGroups:

If you use to "Search This Group" field
and enter...HP 735 or dark images...you
may find something useful.

Tell us a little more about "black squares".
Since you can edit the pictures, obviously they are there.
Where do you see the black squares?
You download the photos to a folder, you open the folder to see the files.
To view the file names you can select Thumbnails, Filmstrip, Icons, List,
Details. Is this where you see the black square?
When looking at the name of the files in your folder, if you double click on
a photo file, tell us what happens. Does it open in Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer and are you able to see the picture there full screen or do you just
have a black square?

John might be right but it could be that you accidentally changed a light
enhancing feature on the camera. If you are taking these photos in regular
daylight and they still come out black, I would say that it is a setting or
the camera is defective. See if the problem happens to pictures downloaded to
another PC besides yours. Also read your manually to see if you just need to
adjust one of the camera settings.

Good Luck,

HJ
