Pictures are a box with an x in the corner

I'm using PowerPoint Viewer and some of the pictures are coming up without
the picture, just the box with an x in it.

This is a presentation I got with a book that I bought, and it seems like
these pictures are pretty important. Is it the settings on my computer, or
good it be the amount or way my memory is configured?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

This should help.

Thanks for the information on the Red X. I tried some of the things that
were listed, but I don't have the original document, since I wasn't the
preparer.

Do you think that I have the pictures somewhere on the CD, or do you think
the pictures did not get transferred when the CD was made. Thanks.

Oh, and I did write to the publisher and hopefully they will forward my
message to the preparer. So even though this didn't fix my problem it was a
helpful response.

There is a good chance that the images are on the CD. You could look on the
CD using Windows Explorer for image files like .JPG, .PNG etc

You say you do not have the original document. If you can open the document
in PowerPoint Your looking at a copy of the original documment you should be
able to edit and make changes Will be read only coming off the CD

I really appreciate your help. Unfortunately I only have the Power Point
Viewer. I think I will download Power Point and see if that gives me more
control over the CD pictures.

You cannot download the full version of PowerPoint other than a trial
version see here

thanks for the information. I did find out that I couldn't download a
version. I think I may have an old version somewhere, but I brought the CD
to work, and I can see the pictures. I can't help but think it's because of
the way my laptop is set up. Maybe I have too many items in my startup
memory. I've tried eliminating several of them, but I still get some
pictures with the red "x". I guess the good thing I've found out is that the
power point pictures are not really necessary for the overall information in
the power point presentation. Thanks again for your help, Michael.

Happy to hear that your somewhat satisfied with the results. There are a
million an one reasons why something's show on one machine but won't on
another.
