Picture Sizing

I use picasa as my image editor and then I bring the photos into my Frontpage
software that way the only thing I have to do is resize the photos and I'm
done. My problem is this, no matter what size I resave them as when I view
them on my webpage they are smaller than I want. Is there anything I can do
to fix this problem? I have tried deleting the photo and bring it back in,
but that does not seem to work out.

A good image resizer is IrfanView www.irfanview.com

I use MS Picture It! as my image editor, but then resize using IrfanView. (I
also use 75% - you'll see this in the save dialog.) No hassles whatsoever.

Thanks for the advice regarding Irfanview, but I am happy with picasa, what I
am not happy with is how small the photo appears in IE. Is there something I
am going wrong or is it a setting within my browser?

Actually, I don't regard IrfanView as an image editor, merely as a (very
good) tool for resizing and optimising photos for the web. As I said, I use
Picture It! (maybe not the greatest, but I have got used to it) and then
IrfanView.

Can you look at the file in Windows Explorer (hover the mouse over it) and
see what its dimensions are (you may have to set this in View|Choose
Details...) Mine read 600x400 or similar (e.g 400x600, 600x450, 450x600).

If they are not the size you want (which could be different from mine), then
it may be a setting in picasa. Otherwise, remember that you can set the size
of the image in the HTML itself.
e.g <img src="image.gif" alt="" width="60" height="40"/> will resize a
600x400 image to 60x40
You may need to change the height and width.

P.S Can you give a URL, then I won't be guessing so much.

Picasa is a good album software, not real good at doing what is needed for
web work though.

You need to resize and optimize your images PRIOR to Importing them into
FP's Image folder.
Smaller than what you want? Start over from the original and size it the way
you want, Save As then re-import (easier if you use a different file name on
the second try until you get a hang of how FP works). Remember to look at
your original at 100% before you edit it for the web, maybe you're viewing
it at 50% ??

Post the URL to the page.

Oh, yeah, don't use FP to resize/resample your images...it's not good at
image editing.

The bset way to edit your images in FP2003 I find is to import your picture
into your page then drag corner and resize to as you required, let front page
do the work for you. But try to make sure the image file is not at massive
resolution i.e over lets say 3mp. Hope this works.

IMO FP does not do a good job at manipulating images, so I don't do it that
way except if I want to get dimensions for the image. Take note of the image
size, delete the image file, then use Photoshop (or whatever) to resize the
original image outside of FP and re-Import the properly sized and optimized
image into FP.

another reason you don't want to resize that way is; all it does is change
the dimension attributes, so if your file is 1meg and you make it
dimensionally smaller the file size will still be 1meg.
