I have a cell phone that takes and send pics, when this pics are sent to the
puter the resolution is very small, I tried to enlarge the pics with
Irfanview and I get too much distortion, do you know a program I can
use??....thank you in advance.

Unlike what you see on tv, if the image is to small and low resolution then
there is much you can do....

the best and easit thing to do is before you enlarge it is to bump up the
the res or dpi say from 72dpi to 350dpi and save. Then when you resize or
enlarge it lower the resolution back to 72dpi...

then you have to soften and or sharpen the picture with the various
filters. It won't be the best but it usually is better than just enlarging.

This may or may not help, but using "resample" rather than "resize" in
IrfanView will often produce better results.

Try using Irfanview to resample in 10% increments, sharpening and blurring
as necessary until you get a result you like. I think it's called 'stair
interpolation'.
There's not much more you can do when 'sizing up'. The graphic software
can't add detail that isn't there.

Experiment with resample filters too, the most useful seem to be:
1. B-Spline ... soft-ish, but doesn't emphasize JPEG fuzz
2. Lanczos ... Possibly the best for reasonable sharpness, but severe
on any defects
