I've called dell, I've done searches on this newsgroup, I
can find any answers. It's the same problem. Pictures
will not appear into any web page. I right click, and
select show picture. Nothing. Show pictures is checked
in the advanced, multimedia setting. So I formatted the
hard drive. Spent the day making backups and did it (my
system was getting clogged anyways). So! I'm re-
installed... all systems go. I get on the internet and
still, no pictures appear!!! I never had red x marks.
It is just a blank space. And it's driving me mad!!
Anyone? Please??

I've searched on this newsgroup with "picture" in the
subject heading and all the hits are within the last
three days. Please help!! Thanks!!

I am not sure this will help but, I have a system with a proxy server to run
multipal machines. I have the capability of turning off pictures in the
server.

If you are in an office setting this could be your problem.

That's all I have but may be of some help.

I'm getting the same thing here too "Will" on a WinXP IE6
SP1. Surprisingly, netscape works.

Me again... I probably should have searched miscrosoft for
updates. Instead I went to Mozilla and downloaded their
browser. Works like a charm!! And it's got tabs which is
very cool!! It's an excellent fix for me.

Search for "hosts" and delete. Also delete "imhosts". should be 4 or 5
instances. This should do the trick.

I had this problem with my new SMC router--turns out the
firewall needed to be tweaked because it thought there
were syn attacks taking place. Loosened up the settings
and the red X's were gone.
