If you got me, there's a dark-grey thick frame around Reading Pane in
Outlook 2003.
Who was that idiot designer which invented this??
Anyway, who knows how to get rid of this "cool feature". I hate it
more than anything in my PC.

Thanks,
Serguei

You can close the reading pane, but the border can't be removed or resized.
View, reading pane, off.

Personally, I like it. And, frankly, if you designed something that someone
else didn't like, I bet you wouldn't want to be called an idiot.

Anyways, there isn't a way to get rid of the border. If you hate it that
much, turn off the reading pane.

If I would design something like that, I would give user THE OPTION to
turn it off and on. Otherwise, go ahead and call me an idiot.
Messages Pane has option to turn on and off the lines between messages
(which I immediately turned off). These lines are one pixel thick.
Reading pane border is about 15 pixels thick and I can't turn it off.
Ridiculous!

Diane Poremsky [MVP], thanks for the answer. That's a relief. But I
dont' want to sacrifice functionality, so.. I'm stuck with this ugly,
irritating, space-consuming border.

:-)
