Picture hot spots

I would like to have text display on hot spots as the mouse is moved over a
picture but do not want a hyperlink. Is htere any other way of doing this?
 
Add a title attribute to the hotspot's markup - I believe you will have to
do this manually, e.g.,

<area title="this is what you want"
