You'd need to have the slides scanned. How you go about this will depend a lot
on the quality of scans you need, the number of slides you have to scan and
naturally: budget.

At the low end, quite a few flatbed scanners have film scanning attachments
that take slides. You won't get the best quality or resolution and scanning a
large number of images would be tedious.

Some photofinishers and photolabs can scan images to PhotoCD. Check with your
local camera shop or check on the net. I've used Robin Imaging
(www.robinimaging.com) for this in the past. Good people, quality-oriented.

For maybe 600 bucks, you can buy a nice Nikon slide scanner and do it yourself.
Some of the dedicated slide scanners have a feed tray you can load up with
slides, then let the thing scan through them on auto-pilot.

Your question is a little vague, but let me try.

If you mean old 'film-style' slides (35 mm film strip showing one picture in
a cardboard/plastic frame) that you want to make into PowerPoint slides,
than there are two levels to "getting them in".

If all you want is an image of the slide, than you can scan them in using a
scanner that accepts slides (many consumer models of scanners have slide
attachments for capturing slide images). There are also special slide
scanners that are available, but rather expensive to purchase. You can also
get the names of local businesses that do this from most any camera shop.

If you want to be able to change the text on the slides, then you will need
to re-build the slide manually or hire someone to do this for you.
