presentation for storage can you then un-compress for
PowerPoint slide show?

If you compress them, they are optimized for viewing. It is only for printing
that you might want to preserve copies that are not compressed. See the

Compression is a one-way street. It tosses out data. You can't get the data
back once it's gone.
