Hi,
I made the mistake of visiting the Microsoft website last night and
tried to download IE6. Ever since I have aquired a new icon in my system
tray which claims to be Automatic updates setup wizard. Eh I dont want any
updates thanks, but thanks for asking anyway Bill. Now how do I remove this
intrusion without formatting my hard disk.

Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services|Automatic
Updates|Action|Properties|General and set the "Startup Type:" to "Manual" or
"Disabled"

Greetings --

Simply click on the offending icon. It will open a wizard that
allows you to turn off the automatic update feature. You won't see
the icon again.
