Picasa 2 is a really nice program. Install did not add tons of registry
items and I think the widespread ini files are gone (version 1 added a tiny
ini file to many folders). Very user friendly, nice variety of features,
and a fast well-refined look and feel.

It adds quite a few new .ini files here, and leaves all the old ones
behind.

Cheers,

Roy

On this machine, In addition to the 14.3MB it installed into its program
tree it also created a 34.8MB data tree for itself under
\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google

It will create a .ini file in any directory in which a picture or branch
is recategorized or modified.

I think its a nice interface but if you tweak a file you will lose track
of where those changes are actually made.

agreed. it is a *really awesome program. i waited for many a-month
after the google buy-out to see what problems or concerns reared their
ugly head(s). luckily, none did. at least not from any *reliable
sources...

Babya bPicture (faster) is good too-and so is Picasa .
Thought I's check out Babya bPicture.
although Google brings up many sites which reference it,
they all fail to download.
What gives?

what gives is that the entire Babya 'enterprise' is either a farce, or
the most inept general attempt at doing software in ages. It is
unclear exacty who or what it is all about.

The only thing picasa2 and the babya stuff has in common is to be
mentioned in the same thread in this newsgroup. Picasa2 blew me away.
Babya's pic proggie did the opposite, it sucked.

ditto. i know that i already said this, but picasa2 is the slickest
piece of software i have ever worked with. why it almost borders on
'eye candy'...

Yes it is nice, but as I said before in another post, it's a shame it
doesn't index and show all the images it claims to have found.
