Hi,
Given that the URL is adimg.activeadv.net, is this image being blocked by a
security/ad-blocking program, probably through the HOSTS file?

To check the HOSTS file in Windows XP...
Make sure that Windows is showing hidden files and is
not hiding file extensions for known file types then check for a HOSTS file
at [C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc] Open the HOSTS file with notepad. If
there are entries you wish to disable, you can put the pound sign (#) in
front an entry to disable it. Then File> Save. Or you can rename the HOSTS
file to HOSTS.OLD to disable it.

Hope this helps,

Thank you very much, I done, now working. Can I delete the HOST.OLD file, or
I must keep all in the folder, or better in that folder can I delete
something ?

Hi,
Do you know which ad-blocking program (running Spysweeper?) is using the
HOSTS file or how it was populated?

If you don't want to have any sites blocked, I would open the HOSTS file
with Notepad and delete everything except:
- - -
# Copyright (c) 1998 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is the HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP stack for Windows98
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
- - -
Then File> Save.

I use Xoftspy, tell me if I done right. I delete all in the host file such
you told me, I had two file of host back, back and back 1. I rename back1 in
back, and delete host.old and back. So now I have only HOST with the part
that you told me.

Hi,
It sounds like you're OK. If the HOSTS file becomes populated again with
websites which you didn't place there, an ad-blocking / antispyware is
placing them there.
