Hi,

I just upgraded my video card from a Nvidia 8800GTS to a Nvidia 285GTX, and
I read somewhere that it is possible to use the old 8800 just for the PhysX
effect, but I do not know how to set this up

If anyone can tell me how if it is pssible at all

You just download the latest set of reference drivers. The PhysX engine
is a CUDA application and is part of the more recent driver packs. You
DO NOT need the GeForce Plus power packs to enable PhysX.

Beyond that, it's up to the game. Some games require you to enable the
PhysX features, others just have them on by default. Look in the game's
options or config menu.

Just keep in mind that as it is a CUDA application, it will be running
on the GPU. Having the PhysX effects on might result in a bit of a
performance hit. How much varies depending on the game.
