Xavier BERTHIER

Hi !

I've just begun to administrate a network with some Win2000 servers on many
locations. I've seen in Active Directory a server which I know it as not
been replaced after a failure. What can I do to have a cleaned Active
Directory ?

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Xavier

You need to do a metadata cleanup and you also might need to use ADSI Edit
or Ldp to delete the object. Don't forget to clean up the DNS.

Thank you for your answer Mike, but this article must be use when the "old"
server is always connected to the LAN. Here the server is down.

Those steps are used to remove the metadata of a failed (or improperly
demoted) domain controller. The old domain controller does not have to be on
the network.
