Can anyone help....my windows 200 will not boot. I know I
probably have a virus and I thought I got rid of it...then
I rebooted windows only to find I got that blue screen
about physical memory dump and to contact a system
administrator...which now it's in a loop of
starting ...going to windows startup....stalling and blue
screen and then going back to beginning startup and the
whole process goes over and over.

I cannot boot even in safe mode..or safe mode with log or
anything. I am trying to reload Windows 200 or repair it
thinking that will help only to find it stalls on
Configuring Com +

Please anyone help?

To be sure you get rid of it, you may want to wipe the partitions when
prompted to choose the partitions to install to. Of course, this will take
all your data with it.

You're probably in one of two groups of people -- those who take backups and
those who haven't lost any important data..

One approach to getting your data back is to take the hard disk out of your
machine and place it into another Windows 2000/XP box as a second drive.
Then you'd burn your data to a CD.

Another alternative if that's not practical is to install to a different
folder (e.g. c:\winnt2) than you did last time (probably c:\winnt). This
may let you get the system up and running enough to burn your data to CD, at
which point you can wipe the system and do things neatly.

Since there have been so many updates since the release of Windows 2000, you
may want to order a free Windows Security Update CD from Microsoft.

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/protect/cd/order.mspx

If not, download the current service pack (SP4) and all updates published
since then (see the link below).

You'll want to install a firewall before you attach the machine to the
Internet. See http://www.free-firewall.org/ for details of some free ones.

Configuring Windows Update to automatically update your system is a good
idea, too. If you choose not to do that for whatever reason (perhaps you're
on 56k dialup, for instance), you'll want to use the security bulletin
search page at TechNet to download all the critical security updates
released since the CD was made.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/CurrentDL.aspx

Finally, before you connect to the Internet, install some antivirus
software. There are even some free ones about, such as AVG Free
(http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php) which has a good reputation.

Hope this helps

Oli
