When I open the system control panel icon, under the
computer category with the processor, speed and ram...
there is a phrase that says "Physical Address Extension".
It wasn't there a few days ago and I dont know what it
does. I've been noticing cpu "lag"when I open programs.
Anyone with any experience in this please help

System:
Windows XP Pro SP1
Athlon XP 2200+
1 gb DDR Ram
Geforce 4 Ti440

AFAIK it's not an XP feature. It allows servers to keep large databases in memory, more memory than XP can access.

any idea how I can get rid of it?

It probably means your hardware support it.
You can put 16 Gig of memory in your machine. XP won't use it. But your hardware supports it.
