Hi, we are having our website redeveloped and I mentioned to the people who
were doing it that I use FP2003, so the files need to be saved in html so
that I can open, edit and upload to our server. They have provided me with
the files in .php and I can't open them in FP2003. They display, but only as
text pages so I don't get to see the menu or anything. Can FP display .php
files and if so, how? I have tried to rename the files to html, but they
still display as txt pages only.

Help would be much appreciated.

You probably don't want to change them from PHP into htm. PHP is a
server-side scripting language so there could be code in those files that
needs to be executed.

You can try to configure the editor under the Tools | Options (I can't
remember the exact location and I'm not on a machine with FP 2003 to verify)
and associate php file extensions with the FrontPage editor. This will help
a little, but a lot of the functionality may not be there.

Hope this helps,

Barbara,
Were you able to set your "Configure Editor" so that your PHP pages will
display ok as an HTML page? You click Tools > Options > Configure Editor,
select php unser Extensions. Then click New Editor button then in the Open
With window select FrontPage Open as HTML. If required, click the Move Up
button to make it the Default. Click ok. I'll soon be doing what your are,
e.g., opening PHP pages with FP, so I'd be interested in how you are doing.
Thanks,
Clive
