i just downloaded photostory and created my first movie. When viewing it,
after it was saved, all the pictures came up very blurry and distorted. Is
this normal and if not, how can I rectify this. I will be using photostory
with my 2nd grade class and would like to perfect it myself before I teach it
to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Window$ XP with Mediaplayer 11?
Same crap here.
When shown with another player (e.g. Winamp) it plays fine.

Do you know how to make winamp my default or can i use another player? thanks
for your help.

Tutorial links at bottom of message...

Blurry as in Pixelated?

Distorted as in Stretched?

Are you using high resolution source
files?

Distorted as in distorted.
Example here: http://www.uploadarchief.net/files/download/mpdistortion.jpg
It should be a smooth transition from a map to the actual photo of a street in Berlin.

It seems as if the image is split into a top and bottom half.
And these two triangles are 'lagging' with the rest of the video.
When playing the same video with for example Winamp it plays fine, without distortion.

Export with the standard available format PC4 - 1024x768 for PC and high res source files
(2MB avg).

Thanks for the help John. However, I tried to download Media Player 10, like
you suggested, and my system wouldn't accept it. Anything else? Thanks again.

I don't see your example as blurry or distorted.
To me it looks like the mid-point of a transition.

If the transitions are not smooth...I would suspect
system resource issues were causing the problem.

Sometimes adding too many effects can cause
issues.

Thx for your reply, but your assumption (mid-point of a transition) is incorrect and neither
is it a resource problem or related to 'too many effects'. It's only a 3-minute video with
25 photo's and no other transitions than the default fading effect.

The image I uploaded was a screen capture of a Media Player screen busy playing the video.
Windows Mediaplayer knows nothing about transitions. It only knows the exported video file
(*.wmv) and that video file does not have the Photostory structure embedded.

Therefore the 2 pinkish triangles that are visible at the right side are distortions and not
the result of a transition. This is a Media Player problem that is related to Photostory
exports.
Other video files play fine.

It's not an issue for me personally because I only use the exported files as an intermediate
result for further processing. But it is rather puzzling.

Hi John. I do have windows xp. I just tried to download Media Player 10
again, and it came up that it is not compatible with my windows version.

We will have to agree to disagree...
WMP 11 plays PhotoStory exports
on my system with no issues.

I simply offered some ideas.

Your help is appreciated.

I've never had these problems in the past (WMP11, XP) but they have suddenly presented
themselves. It's just one of the many problems one can encounter when working with Window$.
A complete reinstall will probably solve the problem ;-)
