When running the setup for PS3, I get this message from the Windows Installer:

Error.28000 Generic Custom Action Error

And then the installation fails. Does anyone have an explanation or solution?

Thanks,
Scott

I've seen reports that the following instructions
worked for some users and failed for others:

(813649) Error 27000 or Error 1304 When
You Try to Install Microsoft Plus! Digital Media
Edition
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813649

If you try it, let us know if it solves the problem.

This got me much further, at least to the next error :-(.

It fails trying to create the "My Music" directory under the all users
account. It's probably failing because the directory already exists. But I
can't seem to delete the directory, even if I turn the read-only bit off (it
seems to turn itself back on).

Any ideas?
Thanks much

Sorry, that's all I have on that issue.

Maybe someone else will offer some ideas.

I managed to get around this problem by using the cacls command to provide
rights to system *only*. That is, if I assigned rights to administrators it
didn't work. Go figure.

Maybe this will help the next guy. Thanks, John.

I solved this problem by following that article found on the MS sit
and then re-did the same thing over again but adding the folder /M
Music on the end. Got it to install all the way. I have not use
it yet, but thought I'd share

Here's what I added

Type cacls.exe "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Documents\My Music" /
BUILTIN\Administrators:F , and then press ENTER.
When you read the prompt Are you sure (Y/N)?, press Y.
Type cacls.exe "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Documents\My Music" /G System:F
, and then press ENTER.
When you read the prompt Are you sure (Y/N)?, press Y.
Type cacls.exe "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Documents\My Music" /
BUILTIN\Users:R , and then press ENTER

Thanks Bill G. for the wonderful product. Hey, It's free, guess
shouldn't complain. ;) Good luck y'all

Today I have tried to help out a neighbour with the same problem. jcaisse´s
solution did not work for us though. I also found another possible solution
in another group suggesting to use \system:F instead of \administrators:F
with cacls.exe to circumvent the problem. TO NO AVAIL. Anyone with other
suggestions??? (My neighbour is running XP home edition in Dutch.)
