Photosize in FP

I've been experimenting with photosize without much luck. My photos are quite
large (app. 2000-2500 kb) which makes them hard to work with for me and
others. (up-/download time) If I don't downsize some will have to scroll, if
I do others - who have big monitors -will see them very grainy.

Any suggestions on an optimum photosize? (I'm using FP2003 photogallery
which opens original photos to full screen on my monitor)

Thanks!

I size all my photos to 600*400 or 600*450 depending on the aspect ratio and
optimise to 75%.

When I first read such info on this NG, I said : "What are you talking about
?"

In case, that is your reponse, try this:
Obtain IrfanView www.irfanview.com
Open each image in IrfanView
Choose Resize (Ctrl-R is the shortcut) and enter the appropriate size
Save as JPEG
A window will come up. In this window, alter the % to 75%

The result is a file of reasonable size and definition for the Internet

You could of course choose larger sizes if you want and are confident that
your visitors have large enough browser sizes
e.g. 900*600 or 900*675 but these may be too large

Learn how to use a program such as Corel's Paint Shop Pro, Adobe's Photoshop
Elements 3 or Ulead's PhotoImpact. Irfanview will be fine for starters.
Don't use any tools in FrontPage to touch your photos ... especially to
resize them. The results will be bad!

The actual resizing of a picture for the web is a preference and depends on
the final use on the web. However it sounds like your pictures are too big
and the size that the other poster recommended is a great place to start
with, especially with FP galleries- 600 pixels wide.

For a quick and easy way to resize photos use Microsoft Powertoy- It's
quality is not so good. But then you can offer a link to the higher quality
images. All it takes it a right on the image in Windows Explorer. Read more
on Microsoft's site.

My computer has something called Microsoft Office Picture Manager installed.
Maybe it installed with Frontpage or Word. This will resize images for you.
With an image open in Frontpage right on a image and open with...

The program should open and give options for resizing. Just be careful not
to resize the orginal high quality image.

Adobe and several companies offer free trials to many of there products.
This may be more than you need but at least you get a month to decide for
free:
