The photos I have saved in the story board have all changed to red X, and I
cannot view them now. The movie plays fine, but I just can't make changes I'd
like to because I can't tell where the phots are. Any ideas on how I can get
the red Xs to go away and show the photos?

Have you moved/deleted the original photo files? Moviemaker doesnt
actually copy photos on import, it just creates a reference - thus, if
you have moved the originals, red x's will show.

You have two options:
1. Restore the files to where they were
<right click><properties> shows where MM2 thinks the files are

2. redirect the references:
<right click> and hold on the red x -> <browse for missing file> - find
the file and select it
You will only need to do this once per folder of photos and MM2 will
reconnect any other reference to photos in the same folder

hate to revive a dead thread, but I'm having the same problem.
however, when I use the "browse for missing file" option (that's what I
always used), I get this error:

The file you selected doesn't match the original file closely enough to be
used as a replacement.

I don't understand this because the file IS the original file that was moved
from one computer to another by means of a flash drive. How can Ifix this?
