photos display as red crosses

Hello,
I seem to be having problems accessing photos placed by me OR others on our
website.
The pictures are the right size and placed using the suggested "add image"
protocol of the site. I see them as I put them up, but then they are reduced
to red crosses on subsequeunt visits to the site.

Strangely this is not ALL photos, just some - both mine and other members.

Is it because I have 'blocked pop-ups' whenever there has been an option
presented (and goodness knows where that is now) or is it some other aspect
of firewalls, safety devices, etc etc. I have AVG. Not too savy on all of
this...

I would begin by deleteing Temporary Internet
Files...
