Photoimpact Problem...

I'm running XP Pro(recent install over ME), and finally after several weeks
decided to let Windows update run....after the updates were installed,
Photoimpact 7 decided it couldn't open any photo file formats (it worked
fine before that, tho). File information and previews are not displayed
either....
I then tried to upgrade to PI XP hoping that would solve the issue...but no
luck.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both versions, checked the command
lines for the file associations, etc....but I can't seem to find the
problem. Any suggestions?

hmmm....I guess I didn't mention that I had installed the patches as
well....
