Is it true that they are thinking of turning PhotoFiltre into a S/W
app? (I heard that it is mentioned in their forums, but I cant verify
this, as I dont speak French.)

I haven't seen anything there that suggests this. What part/page of the
forum did you see this on or from what source did you hear this?

All I see here:

is that the "PhotoFiltre is free for a private, non commercial or
educational use (including non-profit organizations).
In this case, registration is not necessary. Commercial or
professional use requires a registration." has all been crossed out.
Instead it says simply "The commercial and professional uses are not
authorized !"

However, on the "Donation" page, it says the following:

"If you appreciate my work, you can make a donation with your credit
card, the payment is safe with SSL. The amount is at your discretion
according to your appreciation of the softwares.

Thank you for participating !"

What Antonio's plans are however, are anybody's guess. I'd say
download the current version and all the stuff that goes with it.

AFAIK, and what I've read is quite reliable (But NOT 100%) He is indeed
planning a kind of 'pro' vesion witch you would have to buy for about EURO
25. THe curren 6.0 version would remain on the site as a free software
program.

After Antonio himself, Heis Spiter is the closest to the source of things.
He is the person to rely on if Antonio is not aviable.

Quoting and translating Antonio's post ie photofiltre's author post :

"I have started thinking about a new version but I think it will be
released under shareware licence at a fair price, betwen 25 € and 30
€ (I don't see how to proceed otherwise, unless stop everything).
The current version 6.0 will remain freeware, thus users will have
the choice ; this version will be maintained for bugfixing".

Well, I have yet to contact Antonio. But I think I'll help him if he needs
some translation. And maybe I can get someone again to correct all those
mistakes again ??? ;-)

I'm so thankful to have a decent alternative to the Adobe mafia paying a few
bucks to these good folk is akin to giving to a charity cuz helping them pay
their bills might just keep a great tool available to the millions who
cannot afford Adobe's stratospheric pricing.
